Call sheet six

This image is called, ‘taking on the crowd’, it was taken by Landan Cerff on the 23rd of July 2011 at 2:20pm.

This shot was taken in Redhill at a festival called Redfest, which is a festival which occurs once a year in the summer.

For this shot I had to be back stage, on the stage in order to capture it.

This image shows a single man, standing in front of a crowd, singing, this can be a different perspective on solitude because it isn’t one person on his own in the picture, but it is one person in front of the whole crowd. This shows a man being brave, and courageous, whilst entertaining on his own.

The lighting was solely daylight.

This image is called; ‘seperation’, It was taken by Landan Cerff on the 10th of November 2011 at 4:30pm,

It was shot in my bedroom, on my chest of draws.

For this image, I had to set up a little scene, using small gauge figures, and a model pub which is made for the figures. I set up a light right above the scene, which would provide sufficient lighting.

I used a model pub for this shot as a prop.

For this image, it was more about setting up the scene in order to create this image.

This image is a small scene that represents something which should be a very social past time, sitting down at the pub. In this image, you can see a group of people, all standing around conferring with each other, whilst there is a person on a moped on the left hand side, sitting by himself, by him sitting on a moped means he is contemplating leaving, or a very distant person, showing that he had obviously travelled there, he made the effort to escape normal life in search for socialising, which he clearly does not get. It shows the figure in solitude, and how he is sitting on his own, because he can’t conform to the other peoples conversation.

The lighting was simply a bed side lamp positioned directly over the model on the moped.

This shot is called; Alone sailor

It was taken by Landan Cerff on the 28th of November 2011 at 6:45pm

It was taken in my kitchen.

I turned the lights off, and positioned my model boat against a sand blasted stainless steel background. I turned off all the lights and used a single torch in order to light up the one specific area, and then I snapped away.

For this shot, I used my Model boat, and a railway model figure.

For this shot, I had to use the torch in order to light up the specific area.

This image is about a man alone, being on a boat would obviously mean he is at sea. Standing at the front of the boat he is looking over the sea, with a vast, nothingness in front of him. With the very soft lighting, he is represented as being in the dark. This is a very harsh feeling towards the character, giving him the sense of no hope. This image is representing solitude, whilst creating an empathetic feeling for the figure.

The lighting for this image was solely from a torch, no other lighting was provided.

This shot is called ‘driving alone’.

It was taken by Landan Cerff

The image was captured on the 28th of November 2011, at approx.. 3:30pm

It was shot in my front garden, on my path way.

It was hard to get this shot, as I had to be lying on the floor in order to be at eye level with the figure, at the same time, this meant I could not use a tripod which would cause issues with a steady, sharp image.

For this image, I used my own life size moped in order to create the image, and a sense that the character is driving along a road, completely out the way of everything else.

I used Photoshop in order to make the character black and white.

This image is of a small figure in solitude, even though he’s on a road next to other cars and motorcycles, he is still away from them, being to the furthest point left away from everything else. It shows a person making a journey on their own. It represents how people can live their lives on their own paths, not relying on other people etc.

Then lighting was solely revolved around natural lighting which was supplied from the sun.

I didn’t need any equipment other than the;

Camera, Canon 550D

00Gauge figure.

Call sheet two.

This shot is called ‘Flower gazing’

It was taken and edited by Landan Cerff

This image was taken on the 28th of November 2011, at 3:13pm whilst it was still light.

This image was captured in my front garden, on a stump that is in on the side of my path.

This image was taken at a metre distance from the actual figure; it was directly focused on to him, making him the subject, whilst also allowing the roses which were behind him to be captured in the short distance. This is where I got the title from because it looks as if he is looking up at the rose.

I needed a small railway figure, and a place for him to sit in order to create this image.

For this image, I just needed to compose it correctly so that it worked as an image.

This image is about solitude once again, it represents a person out in nature, contemplating life, admiring the beauty that surrounds him. It represents a person that wants to escape the mad life around him, and just relax and enjoy the things that are taken for granted.

The lighting I used in this image was from the sun, it was just before dusk, which gave a slight dark tinge.

Photography Call Sheet

Title of shot;

My first image is called, ‘Alone with the flames’

This was composed by Landan Cerff

The shot was taken on the 28th of November 2011

It was shot at 5:20pm, just after the sun had set fully.

It was shot in my back garden, on my patio.

This image was simple, using a small scale model, and a few twigs, I had an idea about making a man in solitude standing by a massive bonfire, the only light around the area, as he was the only person around. I made everything up as it was still light, then when it got dark, using lighter fluid, I lit the little fire and snapped away!

All I needed were a few twigs, bit of newspaper, and a 00gauge model railway figure, a lighter and lighter fluid to set the twigs on fire in no time.

I used Photoshop CS5.1 in order to edit the images, and a Canon 550D with a Tamron extreme macro lens.

This image is solely about a single man, with the only light in the darkness, keeping himself warm, and safe. It almost has a medieval feel to it, as fire was their only protection from the darkness; it represents the character as a lonely man, trying to keep warm and safe.

This is a clear representative that the person (figure) is in solitude.

The lighting for this image was entirely from the fire, there was no other light in order to create the image.

The photo involved the use of a tripod, with a low F number of f/2.8 so that the fire light is taken in. I used a high shutter speed of 1/120 in order to capture the flame at a standstill, but at the same time, not effecting the lighting too much. The ISO was set to 200, this was so the noise was at a minimum, but also so that the light is not going to be over exposed.

The equipment I needed for this shot were;

Canon 550D,
A 28mm EF f/2.8 lens.
Tripod
00Gauge model figures.
